Ever go through a leveling up of your energy frequency and were left feeling porous to other’s energies? During one of these episodes, I remember FEELING the electric energy leave my dog as he shook his coat to release. As a trauma informed specialist, I have learned that humans can actually do this too in the form of shivering and trembling. It’s a stress response built into our bodies as a way to “shake it out” and recover. We accumulate all kinds of unwanted energy all day long. We absorb other’s emotions, feel the energy from the news, from an argument with a loved one, etc etc How mindful are you about finding ways to RELEASE this unwanted energy? Beyond trembling, there are a number of ways to release this energy. Here are a few suggestions. Intense Exercise. The sensitive among us can FEEL the distressing energy leave the body. Holding a plank pose may feel unbearable as your thoughts begin to release and let go. Sit ups may amplify a nauseous tummy, extreme cardio may make you feel into your heart chakra and extreme heart ache/stress as it leaves. NOT KNOWING THIS FACT MAKES MANY QUIT EXERCISE. Yep. It can feel bad when the energy leaves, but it is necessary. Yin Yoga Yin is a gentle stretching type of yoga. Put simply, the yoga instructor explains a stretching pose and the student holds it for the duration of a song. When poses are held for an extended period of time, the release goes deep into the myofacia, or connective tissues. Within the myofacia lies memories and un-neccessary energy begging to be released. I have many memories of holding poses and watching a movie of memories in my head as the imprint of these experiences was leaving my body. Not always pleasant, but SO HELPFUL.

Does your self care change with the seasons? How about your food choices? Making mindful decisions about what feels good and when is important. The three winter months for me are hibernation months. I eat a lot of soups, heavier foods and carbs, stay indoors and STRUGGLE to pick exercise that feels just right. Every winter I gain a couple pounds.
We talk a lot about feeling calm and grounded. How about when your center of gravity is off? What’s that like for you? I rode my bike a couple miles to the grocery store to pick up a few things and brought a backpack to carry it all back home. Of course I had too much for the backpack and had to load up my two handlebars with bags of groceries too. My center of gravity was WAY OFF. Today I felt 5 years old again. Wobbling around with my center of gravity no where to be found. Stopping when people needed to pass me and hyper focused on the path ahead. How symbolic this is for real life. When cancer knocks on the strong athlete’s door or Lyme & PANDAS snatch a child from it’s mother’s arms. Where is your center of gravity then? When life rolls in like a dark howling storm, threatening to destroy our crops and livelihood, our home and loved ones. When we feel helpless to the gods and at the mercy of the path unknown. Where is your center of gravity? During these times of helplessness and distress, we ride forward with awareness and caution. Watching the road ahead. Butt IN the saddle. Veering off to the right when the ride gets too tricky. We need awareness for what we need to feel safe and nurtured (yes, I said nurtured. It’s the opposite of neglecting ourselves) during these hard hard times. We need caution to use our third eye, our place of wisdom to help us see when the road gets too dark. We remember what grounds us. What keeps us steady and DO IT. We allow ourselves to emulate the energy or the DRAGONFLY (another post on the soul lessons of this creature to come) and we learn to change directions in the moment, without warning. We recalibrate. When is your center of gravity off? Do you notice? Becoming aware of what this feels like in you is the first step and determining what you need comes next. It all made sense when I walked around the corner and saw the broker. It was the same broker from space number one who also was in charge of this space. My guides were telling me but I didn’t fully get it. It wasn’t the space at all that was just right. The broker was who my guys were trying to connect me with. Listening in. My intention included better balance, which meant I was faced with a little boredom tonight. Sometimes I think we shy away from what we need because there’s often that middle of the sandwich feeling that doesn’t feel so good. But to get to that goal of weight loss we have to hurt and feel hunger. Or to practice opening up more with loved ones, we become face-to-face with vulnerability.
