About Gabrielle Anderson, LMFT RPT-S (Supervisor)

​Gabrielle received her masters degree in 1997 in Marriage and Family Therapy with an interest in working with children and teens. During her last year of grad school, play therapy was in it’s infancy and gaining in recognition. While still in grad school, Gabrielle began to take CE courses in play therapy. 


Gabrielle is an approved supervisor for the Board of Counseling in Virginia as well as The Association for Play Therapy and a former Board Member for the Virginia Association for Play Therapy. She is the founder and owner or The Family Therapy Center of Northern Virginia, llc as well as the founder and owner of The Willow’s Crown Meditation Studio and Training Facility. 


She sees children as young as three all the way through adults. Her interested focus lies in clients with chronic illness, trauma. anxiety/panic and life stress. She also enjoys teaching counseling therapists for CE credits. 


During the first ten years of practice, Gabrielle often worked three jobs at a time to make ends meet while her husband attended his own grad school. 


Although this time period was challenging, Gabrielle was able to learn by experience and was able to see therapy done in a safe and pro-social manner as well as learn how NOT to do things. 
Her varied experiences have shaped her into the strong clinician teacher and business owner she is today.

In patient hospitalization all ages (different hospital)
Day treatment: teens
In home therapy (2 separate companies. 2 different states)
Private school for children with emotionally and behaviorally driven IEPS (2 separate companies. 2 different states)
Out patient private practice (since 2012)
Community Service Board (AKA community mental health)
