One of the things I hear SO often when supervising interns, residents and the RPT™ in training is how hard it can be to work with parents.
As a parent myself, I often find myself cheering on the parents. Why? Because PARENTING IS HARD.
In this training, you will explore tangible ways to communicate with parents to make the relationship easier to manage, full of trust and (hopefully!) respect. We will then weave these tricks of the trade into working with families as well.

8:45am to 1pm Eastern (4 Live Webinar CEs)
The Confident Play Therapist:
Working with Parents & Families of Children/Teens
🎯 Explore a detailed Play Therapy Assessment for parent intakes and practice gleaning wholistic info about the child & family. Practice setting the tone for therapy AND explore ways to gain parent's trust from meeting #1.
Practice utilizing a strengths based model through the lens of attachment to help hook parents into trusting to team up with you. Tangible family therapy tools will be explored as well as ideas for working with parents 1:1, in the group setting and via workshops.
🎨 This training will include self care activities to help nurture the person within the therapist.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
✅ Describe regulation, attachment, and the nervous system in parent-friendly language
✅ Identify 5 strategies/skills for effectively communicating with helping adults both inside and outside of sessions starting from the play therapy intake session
✅ List and compare different models of play therapy that utilize parent/family work
✅ Explain 2 interventions that can be taught to parents/caregivers for supporting their child’s regulation
🎨 Participants will be required to create various projects during the 4 hour session. In order to receive CE credit, participants will be asked to break off into ZOOM groups to share their projects. COME PREPARED WITH PAPER, MARKERS, CRAYONS AND ANY ADDITIONAL TOOLS YOU MAY WISH TO USE DURING THE TRAINING. FULL PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED.
🍎 An exam with a passing score of 80% is required for all Virtual Live Webinar & Home Study CEs. Participants may re-take the exam if needed until a passing score of 80% is achieved. All personal info related to our students including email addresses, exam scores, etc remains confidential within the Willow's Crown.
👩🏻💻 Live trainings are video recorded. All who sign up for and participate in live in person or live webinar trainings consent to being video recorded. Participants will have access to the recordings after the event for future reference and are made available for Home Study purchase by others.
Because some live events include private discussion groups, art projects and other activities, some home study recordings will offer a smaller CE value than the original live course.
📖 All training purchases are final. 100% refunds are not issued; however, should the participant wish to cancel the purchased training, 50% of the non-refundable monies may be used towards the purchase of a future training through Willow’s Crown. The purchaser is asked to mention this policy when purchasing the next training in order to receive the fore-mentioned discount. View our Refund/Grievance Policy here.
