🎯 Poly Vagal Theory is the foundation for treating anxiety, panic, OCD, trauma even family therapy in the playroom.
Being able to explain how the nervous system works is paramount to ANY mental health work, specifically Play Therapy. Participate in FUN activities throughout.
Be able to explain how attachment, stress hormones, co-regulation, shut down and SO much more impact Play Therapy Clients on a day to day basis and why this is also important to YOU.
🎨 This training will include self care activities to help nurture the person within the therapist.
Learning Objectives
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
✅ Explain the importance of a child’s regulation and attachment in relation to Polyvagal theory
✅ Describe the different parts of the nervous system essential to Polyvagal theory and how it is applicable in play therapy
✅ Identify 6 play therapy interventions for use in different states of nervous system activation in play therapy sessions
✅ Assess the signs and symptoms of different states of nervous system activation
✅ Explain Polyvagal theory basics and play therapy related interventions to parents/caregivers and play therapy clients
🎨 Participants will be required to create various projects during the 4 hour session. In order to receive CE credit, participants will be asked to break off into ZOOM groups to share their projects. COME PREPARED WITH PAPER, MARKERS, CRAYONS AND ANY ADDITIONAL TOOLS YOU MAY WISH TO USE DURING THE TRAINING. FULL PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED.

About Your Teacher, Gabrielle Anderson, LMFT, RPT-S™
Gabrielle Anderson, LMFT, RPT-S™, the teacher for this training is a previous board member for the Virginia Play Therapy Association. She is a therapist for children, teens and adults and enjoys weaving play therapy and other expressive modalities into sessions when appropriate.
